Student Leadership

Lead Today. Inspire Who Comes Next.

The Westlake Hoops Leadership Academy gives Westlake High School freshman, JV, and varsity boys' and girls' basketball players and other athletes the opportunity to mentor younger athletes, support the community, and grow as leaders.

Younger athletes look up to the players who have already reached the level they hope to achieve.

The Westlake Hoops Leadership Academy connects members of the Westlake High School freshman, JV, and varsity boys' and girls' basketball teams with younger Westlake Hoops athletes.

Academy members work alongside adult coaches, share what they have learned, and help younger players develop their skills, confidence, work ethic, and love for basketball.

Who It's For

Built for Westlake high school athletes — boys and girls.

The Academy is open to Westlake High School basketball players and athletes of the same age, from freshman through senior year. Boys and girls are welcome.

• Mentor younger athletes.

• Develop leadership and communication skills.

• Learn more about coaching.

• Support the Westlake community.

• Become positive role models for future Westlake basketball players.

• Share the lessons they have learned through athletics and academics.

The Academy is designed to complement — not compete with — Westlake High School basketball, academic, and family responsibilities.

Community Support

Academy members may support free clinics, scholarship activities, equipment drives, basketball outreach programs, and other approved community initiatives.

Social Media and Storytelling

Academy members may help share positive stories about Westlake Hoops athletes, teams, coaches, and community impact. All content must be reviewed and approved by Westlake Hoops before publication. Required parent or guardian consent must be obtained before publishing images or identifying minors.

Share Your Journey

Close a clinic with your own story.

Academy members may close selected clinics with a short, age-appropriate talk for younger athletes. A few minutes of honest perspective from an older player can stay with a young athlete for years.

  • Preparing for basketball tryouts

  • Make Westlake High School team and academic responsibilities the first priority.
