Frequently Asked Questions.
Quick answers about Skills Classes, Open Gym, pricing, refunds, and what to expect at the gym.
Getting Started
- What age groups does Westlake Hoops serve? +
- Boys and girls in 3rd through 8th grade. Skills Classes are split into a Developmental track (rising 3rd–5th) and an Advanced track (rising 6th–8th), with additional invites for younger players based on skills fit.
- Where are classes held? +
- Weekday Skills Classes are at the Westlake High School 9th Grade Center Gym. Sunday Open Court Scrimmages are at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. A few weeks across the summer run at Westlake Methodist Church on a Monday/Thursday schedule — those are flagged on the registration page.
- Do I need to register in advance? +
- Yes. Use the Skills Class Registration page to reserve a spot for any single class, or buy a Summer Membership to lock in every class on the schedule at the best per-class rate.
- What should my player bring? +
- Basketball shoes (non-marking soles), athletic clothes, a water bottle, and a basketball if you have one (we provide them too). Label personal items — Westlake Hoops isn't responsible for lost or stolen property.
Pricing & Payment
- How much do classes cost? +
- Drop-in classes are $40. Drop-in Sunday open gym is $20. A once-a-week summer pass is $175. The Summer Membership — unlimited classes and open gym all summer — is $300 and is the best per-class value.
- What payment methods do you accept? +
- Payment runs through Venmo, Stripe, SportsEngine, and similar third-party processors depending on the program. We don't store full card or bank details on our end.
- Are processing fees refundable? +
- No. Any processing or transaction fees charged by the payment provider are non-refundable.
Cancellations, Refunds & Makeups
- What's the refund policy? +
- Payments are final once a player is accepted into a program or registers for a class. Refunds are only issued for documented medical conditions, family relocation, or special circumstances approved by Westlake Hoops administration. See the Terms & Conditions for the full policy.
- What if a class is cancelled? +
- If Westlake Hoops cancels or reschedules a session due to weather, facility availability, or other unforeseen events, we'll make every effort to provide a makeup session or credit toward a future class.
- What if my player misses a class? +
- Missed sessions due to illness, injury, or absence are generally non-refundable. Members get the most value out of the program because they can come and go as their schedule allows all summer.
At The Gym
- Where do I park? +
- Parking is in designated areas at each facility. Please observe one-way circulation and posted facility signs.
- Can parents watch? +
- Yes — parents and family are welcome to watch from the spectator area. We ask everyone to follow facility rules and to stay off the playing surface during class.
- What's the drop-off and pickup policy? +
- Westlake Hoops supervises players only during scheduled session times. Please drop off no earlier than a few minutes before class and pick up promptly at the end. Players outside scheduled times are the responsibility of their parent/guardian.
- What if my player is sick? +
- Please keep your player home if they're sick, contagious, or feeling unwell. We'd rather you sit one out than spread something through the program.
Fall Select Teams
- When are Fall Select tryouts? +
- Tryouts will be held on multiple weekends in mid and late August. Exact dates and times are posted on the Fall Select Tryouts page — add your name to the interest list to be notified first.
- Who can try out? +
- Boys in 3rd–8th grade and girls in 4th–6th grade. Players don't need to be current Skills Class members to try out.
